The Tower's upper antique support beams (photos) came from timber beams that were reclaimed from a "days gone by" tobacco factory in Rockingham, NC.  The factory had stood for more than 150 years when it was dismantled a few years ago.  The heartwood pine that these beams were cut from originally, exhibit growth rings that add another 100+ years to their history.

Tower roof and covered awnings are of copper and were custom made by local craftsmen.  All flashing and metals are of premium gauge copper.

The Roof system at Chipmunk Hollow was designed & built to provide the ultimate in beauty, endurance & energy savings.

Supported by the massive 12"-14" log beams & purlins from Maple Island, the rafter system was filled with 10" of Icynene open cell spray insulation.  The final top decking layer was covered with a fire & ice membrane and finally ... 50 year Monier LifeTile.  The roof structure alone took nearly 8 months to complete due to the phases and detail of construction.
